Imaginary power: Defined

Imaginary power refers to a situation where a leader believes they possess authority and control, but in reality, they lack the necessary skills, experience, or support to effectively lead. This delusion of power often stems from arrogance, insecurity, or a lack of self-awareness.

Negative Effects of Imaginary Power

Imaginary power can affect the growth of a particular group through these negative effects;

1. Loss of trust and respect

One of the negative effects of imaginary power is a loss of trust and respect from the team. When team members sense that their leader is acting out of touch or making decisions without proper knowledge or understanding, they begin to question their competence and credibility.
